Diwali Nails| BarryM Rockstar Glitterati

BarryM Rockstar Glitterati

If you saw my post a few days ago then you will have read all about my makeup that I wore for Diwali, if not read it here. So, I thought I would also share with you my nails for the special occasion and of course they had to be glittery, bright and over the top! Just a side note, these are not my real nails they are the ones that I rave about from Primark but just in a plain colour and then I painted over it and they looked amazing...On these nails I used two coats of the BarryM polish and had to leave it to dry in-between but eventually it worked out well!

The best part, is that because these are fake and they have so much glitter on them I won't have to even scrub it off my nails because the nails can be either re-used or binned! Perfecto combo!! This whole collection looks stunning and I would really like to get the others before they take them away....

Have you tried any of the Glitterati Polishes???

Quick and Easy Oreo Cupcakes

Quick and Easy Oreo Cupcakes

You're going to be seeing a lot more baking posts on the blog as its something that I want to start doing more of and to kick it off I'm going to show you this super quick and easy recipe to make oreo cupcakes and trust you and me they are delicious! The recipe I used for the cake doesn't use eggs but feel free to if you want!
Ingredients
For the Cake -
* Plain Flour
* Bicarbonate of Soda
* Baking Powder
* Coca Powder
* Butter at room temp
* Sugar
For Decoration -
*About 2 Oreo Packets
* Butter cream icing
-- Pre-heat your oven to 180C
Method;

1. In a bowl beat together the butter and sugar until its fluffy and combined
2. To that you want to sift in the flour, bicarb, baking powder and coca powder and then using a electric whisk mix it all together until its fluffy and it at a thickness that you want

3. I then took one oreo and placed it at the bottom of each cupcake case, I used silicone ones because they are re-usable and much easier to use! Having a Oreo at the bottom gives the cake a sense of surprise!

4. Using an ice cream scoop I then did one scoop the batter into each case until it was full and popped them in the oven for about 12-15 Minutes!

5. Whilst the cakes are cooling I went on to make the icing I took half of the butter cream in the tub and mixed in a bowl with some crushed Oreo's. I started with the Oreo's in a bag but then decided to use the blender until they were fine and it made life easier
6. Using a spoon (or you could use a piping bag) cover the tops of your cakes and then use the remaining oreo crumble mix and the Oreo's you have left over to decorate and viola!

These tasted so good and my family were so surprised when they opened them up and it had an Oreo at the bottom, it created a beautiful picture as well!

FOTD; Diwali Celebrations

Diwali Celebrations

Another 'What's on my Face' post today,and today is the weekend of Diwali! And I thought I would share with you the look I decided to go with, Diwali was actually on Thursday but the celebrations in my household carry on for the whole weekend! Happy Diwali to anyone who also celebrates!

Face

L'Oréal True Match Foundation// I have only had this since September and even though that isn't a very long time I have fallen in love with. The formula, texture, coverage and lasting of it is genius and the bonus is that I don't even have to use a primer because my skin prefers it without!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer// My skin looks a little more flawless with this foundation so I don't the need for a lot of face concealer, but my under eye circles need a lot of covering up and this does the trick perfectly.

Rimmel Matte Powder// Not too much on this powder apart from the fact that it sets everything in place and doesn't make my face go all shiny and weird.

MAC Bronzer// A lovely natural glow in the night and in the middle of October is ok right? I love how this shade looks on my skin and gives me this lovely bronze look even though my skin is pretty dark in the winter.

Natural Collection Blush in Rosey Glow// This is a very new addition to my makeup routine, I found this gem when I was tidying up a while back now and every since have not stopped using it! I love how natural it looks and doesn't make me look overly flushed.

MUA Highlighter// This is the prettiest thing I have ever seen! I use this on my cheeks and my eyes as a highlighter because its just so pretty and beautiful.

Eyes

Diwali Celebrations

Sleek Oh So Special// I really neglect my Sleek palettes and always stick to the UD ones, but in fact the Sleek ones are amazing too and super pigmented! the picture above shows the colours that I used and I believe they are called 'Organza (the second on the top row) and Ribbon (the one next to it)' I mixed them together on my lid to create the colour of my base and then in the crease I used a little bit of 'Celebrate(last one on the top row)' these names are also related to the occasion so I thought that is perfect!

Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara//  An oldie but a goodie, this mascara made life simple for me because it came off at night which is by bug bear when mascara clings on to your eyelashes. Love the natural look this gives my eyes and its been collecting dust for a long time now, so it was about time I used it again!

Lips

Now I really struggled with the colour of my lips for this look, at first I put Tanya Burr's 'Picnic in the Park' but in the end I went with a red because why not?

Bourjois Rouge Edition in Hot Pepper// This colour looks so pretty at night and this is the only one from the four I have that I haven't yet used so this was a first time...and I loved the result.

I loved the way my makeup turned out and didn't expect the Sleek palette to be this good and the lips work great with the eyes too! Got another part tonight and very much looking forward to it, Happy Diwali!

A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds| Part 1

A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds|

Last week, I made my way to Leeds when it was raining, miserable and basically had everyone on the train in a really bad mood. I headed over to Specsavers on Albion St. to be greeted by a team of wonderful people who were going to be showing me around and help me pick out a new pair of glasses. The purpose of the visit was to see what their store is like, learn more about what their brand is and discover more about the ear care and eye care options they have available.

The Specsavers Eye Test
For years I have been going to a local options and let me tell you now they have been cheating me of my money (well parents and NHS) for years and telling me useless information instead of the stuff I wanted to know. I stopped going there about a year and a bit ago because I didn't like the choices of frames I had their. When the store became aware of this, they took my current glasses and tested them to see the prescription of them to then compare.
I had a  pre-test and then an eye test..at first I was a bit taken back and worried because I had no idea what that meant! The pre-test is to check that your eyes are healthy and all well inside, using a special machine the lovely assistant Peter measured the pressure in my eye and took images of my eye to hand to the option later to see if everything is well. Then I called by the option herself to her room for my actual eye examination, this was the part I was most looking forward to as I wanted to see how it differs from my previous experience.
It involved her testing each eye separately and then together, as well as asking me my families medical history as some things can be hereditary. After checking each eye she then made sure that my eyes were able to focus at different distances and then she explained everything to me about my prescription, the condition of my eyes and made me feel so comfortable I felt as though I had known her forever. I believe her name was Kiran, and she was amazing!

The Styling
At Specsavers they understand that each person is different and not everyone can look by themselves and pick out a new frame that will suit them. So they buddy you up with a frame stylist who guides you through the whole process, the lovely Julia helped me to pick out some awesome frames. The stylists at every store now what they are doing, and by looking at your face shape and features they pick out a range of different frames for you, then you try and see which you like the best. There is also so much choice in this store, in both the women's section and men's, which can be quite overwhelming so having a stylist made life easier!
A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds|

The store in Leeds and I presume a few stores have a 'Magic Mirror' which is a camera that takes photos of you with each frame on as it can be really difficult trying on new glasses when you can't see what they look like! After taking the pictures, you can look clearly at each image and see which you like best.
Specsavers have a 2 for 1 offer on currently and if not that are always having offers on so I managed to pick up two pairs of glasses that are completely different to anything I have ever owned. I sat down at a little desk with the stylist and she took measurements of the frames on me to see what needs adjusting and making sure that they sit comfortably on my nose and everything is centred.

7 things you need to do to take your best ever #selfie

7 things you need to do to take your best ever #selfie
Love it or hate it, we are all a part of the selfie generation. Not only was the term ‘selfie’ added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013, it was also picked as their word of the year. Check any of your social media news feeds right now, and no doubt you’ll find oodles of examples of this self-loving artistry, and what a breath of fresh air that is.
In a world where we’re constantly being told we aren’t good enough, the selfie gives us the chance to present our best side; to create an online persona we can be proud of and profile pictures that don’t make us cringe. Kim Kardashian is well known as the ‘queen of the selfies’ (particularly after that white swimsuit picture), and there’s no doubt she looks beautiful in every photo she takes. But you’ve got to ask yourself, how much of it is selfie skill, and how much is simply because she’s stunning from any angle? And if it’s the latter, what help is there for us mere mortals of taking a selfie to be proud of?
Thankfully you don’t necessarily have to be a supermodel to take a cute selfie. Sure, you can’t actually perform plastic surgery with your phone cam, but you can take advantage of some little tricks and tips to make every shot just a little bit better.
1.    Set the scene
When you’re thinking about your selfie, consider what, other than your face, is going to be in the shot. As much as you might be keen to snap a laid back selfie at your dressing table in the morning, the sight of last night’s underwear draped over the chair behind you is probably not something you wanted to share. Having something amazing in the background is always a plus, but if you don’t happen to be at a Beyoncé concert at the time, think about natural beauty such as trees and sky, or subtle, stylish and underwear free locations at home.

2.    Kiss and make up
Getting your make up just right can make the difference between looking stunning in your selfie and being entered for the ‘clown of the year’ contest. Sure, you can go a little heavier on the makeup than you might normally, as only a fraction of what the eye sees is successfully transferred to camera. But avoid going OTT and ending up looking like an embarrassed panda, because once that image is out there, you can’t take it back.

3.    Light your fire
Good lighting is crucial, not only to help your camera capture the pigments and colours in the shot correctly, but also to flatter and enhance your natural colouring. Natural light is always flattering, but avoid direct sunlight if you don’t want to look washed out. Fluorescent strip lighting is the worst, so if you are indoors try and go for LED lighting with a warm white hue to bring out your best angles.

4.    Strike a pose
What to do with your face is always a bit of a conundrum. Our advice: Don’t do the duckface. It might give you cheekbones, but it’s horribly fake and makes you look rather silly. If all else fails, go for a natural, cute smile, flashing a bit of teeth and nice wide eyes.

5.    Untangle the angle
The default angle for the perfect selfie is with the camera just a bit higher than your eye level and with your face turned at a three quarters angle. This universally looks good, so if in doubt, get this one off pat and you’ll be safe. Feel free to experiment too in order to pin down your own ‘best side’ though.

6.    Filter wisely
There is nothing quite as attractive as a #nofilter selfie taken in good, natural light. However, sometimes we all need a little extra help, and that’s where your filters come in to play. A popular choice is Valencia, which doesn’t do too much to change your skin tone but effectively irons out the creases and shadows from the night before. It’s just a pity there’s no Valencia filter for real life!

7.    Everything in moderation
There is no shame in taking the odd selfie. We all do it. What is a big no-no, however, is continually clogging up your mate’s news feeds with streams of self-indulgent images of yourself to the point that they start blocking or unfriending you as a result. The best things in life taste sweetest when taken in moderation, and the humble #selfie is no different. By all means have a happy snapping moment when you’re on your way out, when you’re with your bff, or to mark an important occasion, but keep it to a reasonable level if you don’t want to look like a prat.

We’ll certainly be watching our news feeds with interest to see how you get on in putting our top selfie tips to the test. Enjoy your selfie adventures!

Accidental MAC Haul!

Accidental MAC Haul!
Someone may have spent a little bit of money on some MAC things..but in all fairness I was able to buy everything discounted thanks to a little shop near where my grandma lives! No idea of the name, but am defo going to be buying some more things and might even pick up some things for you lovely lot?!
Accidental MAC Haul!
The most exciting purchase was the limited edition Gaga lipstick in 'Riveting Rose' and its so shiny and sparkly that I don't really want to use it or swatch it!
Accidental MAC Haul!
Another product that I picked up to go along with the lipstick is this lip gloss thing in 'Dark Crimson' a gorgeous red. I think that these two will make a beautiful combo for the Autumn time.
Accidental MAC Haul!
Accidental MAC Haul!
I have a lot of Mascaras, but I had to buy one more right! The fancy packaging on this one had me at first sight, and its a dual one so I guess its for extra volume and thickness.
Accidental MAC Haul!
Another favourite purchase, this gorgeous blush in 'Dollymix' has got me thinking of all different kinds of looks that I can do with it. I have a slight obsession at the moment with blush and can't stop buying them and this barbie like pink seems a little bit daring but I know that I will love it, when it comes to wearing it!

BarryM Showgirl Extra Lengthening Mascara|Review

BarryM Showgirl Extra Lengthening Mascara

Today I have an amazing review of the new mascara launch from BarryM...being a big fan of the brands nail polishes I thought that I should branch out and maybe even try some other products from them to see how they are and surprisingly I am in love this 'Showgirl' mascara and there are two different formulas the one I have which is the extra lengthening one or the other one which is the volume one.

Packaging
I love the metallic silver bottle with the Broadway font on the front makes me feel special! The stars on the lid adds a nice touch and I can really see the theme of 'SHOWGIRL' coming through. The bottle itself is really heavy and when I held it I was surprised at why they've made it so heavy!.

The Brush + Formula

BarryM Showgirl Extra Lengthening Mascara

Wowza! Look at this brush, and what a pain it was to have this photo to focus!! The head really coats the lashes one by one and brushes them out to separate them. The tip is also really easy to use on your bottom lashes, without it going all over you're eyelid. I also manages to coat my lashes twice with this mascara without it becoming dry and flaky like some mascaras do.

Apologies for the scary pictures but you can see the intensity of the mascara on my lashes and how increasing the amount really does lengthen my lashes and I can see an amazing difference! I love this mascara and have started using it everyday because I love the widening, awakening feeling it gives my eyes and would recommend it to anyone on the hunt for a cheap mascara at only £4.99 you can't go wrong!

September Favourites
The end of a month and the start of another one can only mean one thing, its monthly favourites time!
Bourjois Rouge in Nude-ist// I promise that this month will be the last time I talk about these, but I seriously can't get enough since having bought them I have used one of the  four colours I own everyday and they have lasted all day and night.

Natural Collection Blush// Slowly and steadily I am getting into wearing blush on my face, and this one from NC is such a pretty and subtle colour that I don't feel concious wearing it because of the light colour.

Sleek Oh So Special! // This palette and in particular the pink shade you can see in the far right hand corner has been an amazing everyday colour on its own it looks lovely but also with other colours paired together. The thing about pink shadows is that they can sometimes look too Barbie like but this palette doesn't do that and makes it look nice.

Revlon in Coral Surf// Autumn is here I know, but this bright blue colour is still acceptable right? I bought this from poundland and I have fallen in love with, the formula is amazing and the colour is so bright and beautiful I can't tell you more!

Stormflower//I just knew that as soon as I purchased this, I would fall in love with straight away and even though I save it only for special occasions when I do wear this though the scent lasts on me all day and everyone compliments me on how sweet and floral smelling it is.

Primark Hair Bobble// I bought this a while back from Primark and it looks great when you wear your hair as a high bun and then placing this over makes it look way more neater and prettier. They are so many colours that this comes in and is slightly less eye catching then the big headbands are.
September Favourites
Taylor Swift - Shake It Off// I understand that many people aren't fond of Swift or even her new song but I am in love with and haven't stopped playing it everyday. I think the video and lyrics are the things that are making me listen to it more and more.

September Favourites
I don't usually talk about food but trust me I love it, and recently my go to snack that is very unhealthy are these cute little nutella pots. These yummy pots are so addictive and great when you're peckish or even on the 'go'.

Another thing I have been loving to drink in the summer and now in the Autumn is this Raspberry Lemonade, even though its very and I mean very expensive it is the nicest thing ever and I have just discovered that they sell cans of the drink as well! I really want to try out the other flavours from this company too.
September Favourites

Finally. the highlight of my weekends these past months has been that the Xfactor has returned to our screen and being a fan of Cheryl I just had to watch it but i think this years panel is amazing and they all bring something different to the table and I can't wait to see where it goes!

Getting Organised| Summer to Autumn Wardrobe

Summer to Autumn Wardrobe

Another organisation post today, and this wasn't planned but it was something I have been meaning to do for weeks now and I finally took the time to take the plunge and clear out my wardrobe so that I can get out all my autumn stuff and put majority of my summer stuff away.
Summer to Autumn Wardrobe
So, my room started out looking like this and it looked like a mess with everything everywhere and no room to move about. But, in an actual sense it looks a lot better than it seems my clothes is kind of in piles of clothes that needs to go away and things on hangers but then it failed and now its a big mess.
Summer to Autumn Wardrobe
The first thing I did was put all of my summer clothes into this storage box from Morrisons so that they are all neatly put away and out of my site for the next 6 months. This box includes vests, dresses and strappy t-shirt things. Then the plan is to move this into my cupboard in six months and the jumpers in the box! Genius I know.
Summer to Autumn Wardrobe
Majority of my clothes are actually folded up into different piles and on two shelves, the top one has all my nice tops/everyday tops. The back two piles are the things I would wear with leggings and then the front two with jeans. The bottom shelf consists of pj's, and lounge-wear which I have a lot of because I prefer my jogging bottoms rather than my jeans! It also has a whole pile of leggings because every girl needs them!
Summer to Autumn Wardrobe

Then on to the hanging bit of my wardrobe, there are a few things that have to stay in there. On the left hand side is all my formal wear so that its easier to reach and get to and then the right hand side is my leavers hoodie and then Indian suits which don't have a home anywhere else.
Then in the middle I have my kimono, dresses that I can still wear in the winter with tights and then followed my jumpers. And then more jumpers, I own a lot of winter clothing but its my favourite time of year by far. I then have my leather jackets in there along with cardigans.

And that's it, my very small but very organised wardrobe! Have you re-arranged your clothes recently?
