Colour correcting is non-negotiable in my makeup routine — especially on Indian/South Asian skin where we often battle both darkness and warmth in different areas of the face. So when the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish Colour Correctors started popping up everywhere (yes, including that iconic viral moment where someone put red lipstick under their eyes before applying the orange corrector ๐), I knew I had to see what all the fuss was about. I picked up both Medium and Tan — and spoiler: they do live up to the hype in their own ways.
✨ Medium — My Everyday Underdog
First up — Medium. This shade is so good for all-over coverage that it honestly feels like my base gets an instant glow-up the second I dab it on. The formula is creamy but not greasy, so it blends like a dream with a sponge or brush.
I find Medium works beautifully on when applied all over the skin if you want to even out tone, it also works wonderfully around the nose and cheek area where I have more uneven pigmentation. It definitely gives a subtle brightening base before I apply any other base products.
What I really love about it is the texture — it never looks patchy or cakey, even after a few hours. For me, this is the one I reach for when I’m in a rush and/or any look that needs to feel perfected but not full glam.
๐ Tan — The Bold Brightener (With a Warning)
Now… Tan. This shade is BRIGHT — in the best way. But it definitely deserves respect.
If Medium is your “everyday buddy,” then Tan is your statement maker. It lifts dark circles in a way that’s instantly noticeable — not subtle, not shy, just there. Think of that famous viral moment where someone used red lipstick under their eyes to exaggerate what corrector can do — that same impactful vibe is what Tan gives, but in the right way.
But here’s the thing:
Tan needs to be used carefully — especially under the eyes. A little goes a long way, and if you over-apply or don’t blend well, it can look patchy or too intense. I actually find it works best if and only when I apply a very thin layer and then use a damp sponge to tap blend it all out.
Otherwise… yas, it really pops.
๐จ Texture & Formula — Why I Enjoy Them
Both correctors have a gorgeous creamy texture that doesn’t settle into fine lines — which is honestly a win for me. I love how they layer under concealer and foundation without dragging or slipping. They feel luxe, they feel creamy and they feel like they actually do a job.
๐ญ So… Would I Repurchase?
I love the experience of these correctors, especially the Medium — but I’m more drawn to liquid formats. I find that a liquid corrector (like the one from Huda Beauty) blends even more seamlessly under my favourite concealers and for my everyday life — I reach for those first.
So for me? Maybe not a repurchase — simply because I already know what formula I gravitate toward. But, if you love a creamy texture and bold correctors that show up, these are definitely worth trying.
๐งก Final Thoughts
Whether you’re colour-correcting to neutralise darkness, brighten your under-eyes, or even out your skin before foundation — both Magic Vanish Correctors have their place. Medium is my safe, buttery-smooth go-to, and Tan is that “glow that means business” shade that definitely makes a statement once you get the hang of blending it.
If you’re like me — obsessed with the process of good base makeup — these are fun to experiment with. Just treat Tan like the star it is… not the supporting act ๐
