tFrom the country’s glistening lochs to its history-soaked coastlines and sky-scraping mountains, Scotland is truly a rambler’s paradise. With so many natural beauty spots to explore, it can be difficult to know which of the many walking trails to follow.

To help you on your way, Shoetique has created this useful guide to the very best walks in Scotland, so you can effortlessly plan your next walking holiday.

South Loch Ness Trail
Walking Scotland: Top 5 Walking Routes

Loch Ness has become something of a tourist destination, with people travelling far and wide to try and spot the legendary Nessie. For a more relaxing experience, follow the South Loch Ness Trail.

The route is quite lengthy at 28 miles in total, so you may want to tackle it in sections depending on how long you’ll be in the area for. The elevated route begins at Loch Tarff and provides ramblers with exceptional views of Loch Ness as they make their way towards Torbreck.

It’s not just the majestic scenery you’ll be able to take in during the route though. You’ll see everything from the remains of an Iron Age fort to the Thomas Telford pier.

Where to stop:

Towards the end of your ramble, you’ll pass through the village of Dores. Situated on the shores of the Loch, The Dores Inn is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing drink and a home cooked meal as you look over the glass-like waters.

What boots?

Due to the steep inclines that feature along this route, it’s really important that you choose a pair of walking boots with a sturdy grip and padding around the ankles for extra support.

Arthur’s Seat
Walking Scotland: Top 5 Walking Routes

When most people think of Edinburgh, they think of a bustling Scottish city — and they’d be right! Yet many people are unaware of the hill walking opportunities the urban area has to offer.

Arthur’s Seat is a dormant volcano in Holyrood Park. While the route may be rocky and rough, it makes a great trail for walkers who want to enjoy spectacular views across Edinburgh’s city centre at the top. If you’re not cut out for the terrain, you can still take in the picturesque park from ground level.

Where to stop:

Because of Holyrood Park’s close proximity to the city centre, walkers are spoilt for choice when it comes to refreshment breaks. A popular choice is The Sheep Heid Inn. Located on the edge of the park, the homely pub is the perfect place to warm up.

Walking the route in the summer? Pack a picnic and dine alfresco in the park.
What boots?

Protecting the foot is key if you’re going to succeed on this route’s terrain. Opt for cushioned soles to protect against uneven rocks and stones, and a waterproof upper to tackle the occasionally boggy conditions.

Ben Lomond
Walking Scotland: Top 5 Walking Routes

Standing at 3194ft above sea level, Ben Lomond is perhaps one of the most outstanding mountains in the Scottish Highlands, offering panoramic views over Loch Lomond and the surrounding areas.

Starting in Rowardennan, the route takes walkers through wooded spaces over steep pathways towards the summit. From there, you can admire the amazing views as you slowly descend the trail. With a moderate to hard rating, the steep sections of this walk will put even experienced walkers to the test.

Where to stop:

The Rowardennan Hotel is located at the base of Ben Lomond, making it an ideal stop-off as you descend from the mountain. If the weather permits, take your tipple outside to the beer garden and truly soak up the views of the magnificent Loch Lomond and surrounding mountains.

What boots?

As Ben Lomond is a mountain, you’ll need professional equipment to ensure your safety. Cushion, support and stability are all factors you should look for when it comes to boots, while you’ll also need base layers and waterproof clothing for the trek.

The John Muir Way
Walking Scotland: Top 5 Walking Routes

At 134 miles in total, The John Muir Way should be split across a few trips due to its sheer length. Running from Helensburgh to Dunbar, the route has been split into sections for those who do not have the seven to ten days required to walk the full way.

While nature dazzles throughout the walk, it is particularly spectacular from North Berwick to Dunbar. Over the 15-mile stretch, you’ll climb Berwick Law to enjoy spectacular views over East Lothian and the Forth, explore the picture-perfect surroundings of the John Muir Country Park and wonder at the imposing Tantallon Castle.

Where to stop:

You’ll find plenty of perfect picnic spots along the route as well as many pubs and eateries too. Once you’ve reached Dunbar Harbour, pay a visit to The Volunteer Arms for some freshly caught seafood.

What boots?

The length of the route means you’ll encounter a variety of terrains during your trip. Because of this, it’s best to choose a pair of all-purpose walking boots, with a thick tread, cushioned soles and support around the ankles.

Find out more:

There’s plenty of other sections of the route that are worthy of a ramble. You can find out full details of the route on the official John Muir Way site.

The Borders Abbeys Way

The Borders Abbeys Way is a circular route in the centre of the Scottish Borders. Comprising of 64.5 miles in total, the walk has been divided into five sections so you can tackle it piece by piece. With an easy to medium terrain throughout, it’s worth trying to tackle the full route at some point, especially the 12-mile stretch from Kelso to Jedburgh.

During this section, you’ll take in the pretty sights as you work your way along the river bank. Look out for the many picture-perfect stone bridges and make sure you pack your camera to take a photo of the Abbey of Jedburgh ruins as your walk comes to a close.

Where to stop:

Treat yourself at the end of your walk at the Clock Tower Bistro and Bar, in Jedburgh. Offering a selection of wines, cocktails and fine foods, it’s the perfect place to indulge after a long ramble through Scotland’s outstanding scenery.

What boots?

From Kelso to Jedburgh, the terrain remains relatively flat. Select a pair of walking boots with cushioned soles to ensure you are comfortable throughout the duration of your route.

Diwali or Festive Makeup

Happy Diwali to those who celebrate! Every time we get to this time of year I really start to think about how quickly time is going. This year I am spending Diwali (today 11th) with my flat mates going for a lovely meal and then with the family at the weekend. Very odd. I love showing what I did for my make-up and the aim was something pretty yet bright! I based everything around the dress which is the Dhalia dress, very pretty and summery but in the evening is going to look amazing. There are hints of pink and red coming from the flowers on the dress so i decided to keep that as the theme and went for that colour on my lips. The shade Date Night is from Seventeen* and is a lovely pinky colour but to amp it up I added the red from the All Out Lip Palette* which looked amazing! Because the lips and dress were so bright I went with a warm glow to the face, starting with my trustee L'Oreal Foundation, L.A Girls Concealer and Seventeen Contour Kit*. Summer might be over but I like my skin to have a bronze colour to it. I am also LOVING highllighting, why it has taken me so long to get on board I have no idea but it looks gorgeous on the skin and lasts all day, for this look I used the MAC Soft & Gentle.  Then we go onto the eyes for this I used the Seventeen Easy on the Eye Palette* which is full of smoky, dark colours. The palette also comes with a primer and cream shadows to help keep your eye make-up on all night long, I only touched the bottom row of colours. Followed by the smallest amount of Falsifeye Mascara*, I love this mascara to bits that I am now running low so saving it for special occasions.

And that is the whole look finished! I wanted something super simple, easy and yet striking. I love the purple on the eyes and the red lips it works really well with my dress.

Hope you enjoyed!

Bare Minerals Stoke of Light Eye Brightener Review

Bare Minerals Stoke of Light Eye Brightener
Bare Minerals Stoke of Light Eye Brightener
Bare Minerals Stoke of Light Eye Brightener

This is a eye brighter, not technically a concealer but I'll be calling it that anyway! Upon first use I noticed straight away that this is not a product that I could use on it's own to brighten up my under eye area, I have to use a heavy duty concealer underneath (L.A Girls Pro Concealer) and then dot this at the bottom of my circles and blend. The consistency of it is very thin yet has a creamy and blendable formula - match made in heaven. It is very sheer and that's why it is a brighter only not a cover up. Leaves a fresh and awake glow to your eyes!

Now lets talk about the applicator. It is a dofer which is typical for a concealer, however it is ever so thin. I've interested a picture of the side so that you can see what I mean, I find it bizarre that it can be so thin but this helps to apply it under the eye as it can get right up near the tear duct. It is also a very flexible brush that helps with the application.

One thing I have learnt that this does not double up as a highlighter or concealer, it is best for the under eye only. Overall, I give this concealer a 4/5!

3 Years On - Am I Doing it Right?

This is a very impromptu post as it dawned on me today (friday) that the 8th November is a special day! Its 3 years since I started Class and Glitter! What?! Its crazy to think that from starting something where I wanted to just share my thoughts has now become a big part of my life. I love blogging and everyday I think of something new and exciting to do based on it.

The amount of crazy opportunities it has given me is insane and this next month and December is even crazier and you will find out very soon why. Writing this post I am thinking to myself, what have I done right that has enabled me to carry on for three years? Why do people read what I write? Why do brands want to work with me? I don't think I am doing it all right, but do you know what WHO CARES!

I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my lipstick filled heart for taking the time to read, follow, comment and interact here on the blog or even over on any of my social media channels. I have met some amazing people through the world of blogging and feel thankful that I get to do so many exciting things!

I feel I also need to thank Royal Mail, for putting up with all these years and delivering all the parcels! To celebrate I am running a giveaway over on twitter, which you can find here - be sure to enter its international and ends in a months time right near christmas!

What's On My Bathroom Shelf?

What's On My Bathroom Shelf
What's On My Bathroom Shelf
What's On My Bathroom Shelf

I really want to do a university room tour but am not 100% happy with it yet as it is brand new and I am still figuring where I want things to be. But the space that I am happy with is my bathroom, its a simple wet room but just above the sink is a shelf full of my beauty goodies.

The Essentials
One the left hand side we have the items that everyone has in their bathroom. Deodorant something I am very fussy about, it has to work and it has to smell nice too and Dove never disappoint. Fun fact i came to university with 3 bottles so that I am prepared. Toothpaste and a toothbrush for cleaning my teeth of course, aquafresh is the best toothpaste out there for an everyday basis in my opinion. The last essential I have kept in my bathroom is a body mist, these act as a air fresher for me as well as the spray that I apply after drying myself off in a bid to keep me smelling nice all day. I apply body butter outside of the shower hence why it isn't shown here.

Skincare
The neat freak inside of me has decided to keep everything in the order that I use it and the process starts with the Garnier Micellar Water to remove all my make-up with the tiniest cotton pads in history, The I apply something I picked up in Dubai but is also available on Ebay it's the Baja No Marks cream, this is meant to help with the reduction of marks left after acne and even out the colour. I use it every night after cleansing and it really calms my skin down and helps with the marks. On alternate nights I use the Skin Therapy Oil from Palmers which restores the moisture back into my skin and smells amazing. In the red pot are my retainers, which look right at me so I know that I have to wear them. Lastly, is spot treatments. Both are completely different as I use them at different times of the spot procedure. Sudocrem works best on my skin when a spot is out, red and sometimes painful - it dries it out and assures me that I won't be concious about it all day. Then there is Panoxyl which is a lot stronger and great to get those under the skin spots and anything that is creeping up, but not quite there yet. Together these create a recipe for disaster so I don't apply them all at once otherwise my skin would be on fire.

There's what is on my self, very simple but all things that I need either in the morning or the night. Having them in one place and at reach is great when you are half asleep on a night. What's on your 'bathroom shelf'?

Accidental Makeup Revolution Haul

Makeup Revolution Haul

I went on the Makeup Revolution website and next thing I know a few products were added into my basket and then an email came to me saying' Thank you for placing your order'. I have been eyeing up some things from them quite a lot recently, mainly after their new lines were added so I went for it! And know my local superdrug back home stocks MR! More for me...

£14,99
This was the first thing to go into my basket. MR have recently launched a new range of makeup brushes and I have just splurged on some others so had to keep this spend short and sweet. I went with this set as for the price I thought it was amazing. The brushes are tiny compared to my others so I am hoping they work well. And it came with a sponge, and my real techniques one is coming to an end :(
(I bought it separately, but now it is part of a set)
This reminds me of the beauty blender and I am wanting to get one to do a comparison for you all and see what is it like. Its a lovely little sponge and I can't wait to use it. Will report back as soon as!
New-trals vs Neutrals Palette
£6.99
How beautiful is this palette!!!! As soon as it arrived it just screamed autumn to me and I can't wait to get out of my comfort zone a little bit and use the daring shades. The top row is what I am most excited to use.
Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray
£5.00
The most exciting purchase of them all, I have to say and one that I can already give my opinion on. I love the idea of setting sprays, they seem to make other peoples makeup last very long and I always wonder if it would do the same for my makeup but which one to get is the question. When I saw this retailing for just £5 I just had to get it. Boy am I glad I did. This spray has kept so much of my makeup in place, controls oil in my tzone and you can't feel it! I have a full review coming up very soon!

Have you tried anything from MR recently?!
