The Beauty Edit with John Lewis

At the moment my university timetable is a little all over the place, we are due to go out for placement next month so it is a long wait ahead. My placement will be over the summer term, which I couldn't be more excited for! The weather will hopefully be better so I can take the children outside as well as have the chance to wear pretty floral dresses and ballet shoes. As it will be during the summer, my makeup needs to be long lasting and fresh. John Lewis have recently launched their Beauty Edit: Artistry which is a collection of products perfect for that fresh and summery look.

BASE

After prepping the skin with my go to Ceptaphil Moisturiser, its straight into foundation. The Lancóme Tient Idole Ultra Wear in 055* is the perfect base for a long day out no matter what the occasion. One of the many things that I adore about this foundation is that it contains SPF15, this isn't a great deal but ideal for everyday wear and the reason why primer is skipped, too many products on my already oily skin is the last thing it needs. If you do have oily skin, then you need to try this foundation it is made for us! I've been applying this with a sponge, bouncing it in to the skin and really working it in. This ensures that the product isn't just sitting on my face and helps to make it look more natural. This foundation gives a very medium to high coverage, after two, thin layers my skin is completely flawless. It wears for a full working day and doesn't move about either. Meaning that I can skip out on concealer and powder with the Freedom Pro HD Powder, which adds a protective barrier to the foundation and helps to control the shine.

CHEEKS

Keeping with the fresh look, a light dusting of the Too Face Sun Bunny Bronzer over my cheeks, jawline and forehead adds some colour to my face and the pink undertones this bronzer has, makes it the perfect natural tan colour. One makeup thing that I am awful at doing, is being able to wear both bronzer/contour and blush. There's just something about my face shape and heavy hand that can't seem to get the balance right. Instead, I keep it simple and use one or the other with highlighter instead. The MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle, is one of my holy grails and applying this to the high points of the face gives a gorgeous glow.

EYES

Can we just take a minute to mention how utterly gorgeous this eye shadow palette is? The Laura Mercier Ediroial Eye Palette* that is exclusive to John Lewis features six clay-like textured eye shadows. It includes three matte and three metallic shades, all shades that can be used to create some stunning eye make up looks. The palette also comes with a setting powder, to use on top of the eye look to set it into place. These are some of the best eyeshadows I have used in a long time, the clay like texture blends so beautifully and each colour is highly pigmented. I'm not much of a liner girl but I am a lashes girl, my go to mascara has of course been the Eyeko Lash Alert. It adds something extraordinary to my lashes and makes them look 100% better than they did before.

LIPS

To finish this spring look off, the bareMinerals GEN NUDE liquid lipstick in JuJu* is the perfect mauve/nude pink. These smell really lovely, like sweets! It applies like butter to the lips, as someone who has tried very little from bareMinerals I am going to have a collection of these very soon. Love that it dries instantly and lasts through food, drink and a long days wear.

Expect some indepth reviews of the all these products very soon because they are incredible, I haven't used any foundation since trying this one out - I am obsessed!
