Empties #4

Empties #4

The weirdest thing about having a blog is that I keep things that I have used up just so I can give you the 411 on how they were, if i would get them again and if they were amazing or not.

Since finishing this I have bought another two bottles to keep me stocked up as I love this micellar water. It doesn't react with my skin, removes all my makeup and my skin feels refreshed afterwards. You can read a in-depth review here
For the past few months i have had some awful knee joint pains and neck pains and everything and anything has been put on both the areas to see if it helps. The only thing that has helped ease the pain at night and help me sleep is this rollerball, applying a thin layer cools the area down and makes life a lot easier.
I wanted to finish the wash as quick as possible because I found another one that is even better. This face wash is amazing and does the job of cleaning your face thoroughly, however the price of all freederm products is really off putting  and for that reason alone I wouldn't repurchase it but also because you can find way better ones for half the price.
I still to do this haven't written a full review on this product and god knows why not because I can't say anything bad about it! This primer lasts all day, has spf in it making it amazing for the summer, and the weird texture at first is hard to use but afterwards it sinks into the skin and gives you a base for your makeup. I need to buy this again on my next trip to the shops!
Pixi Glow Tonic (full size £18.00)
This was a little sample I received in the LIB Summer box and after hearing a lot of people rave about this wonder tonic, and on twitter during chats on a sunday about skincare I always see this product coming up. So when it came in the box I just had to try it! I went through the little bottle within two/three days and loved using it on my skin. It didn't react like I thought it would because of it been quite harsh and my skin got a double clean. One day when I can justify it I will be buying the full bottle version.
Looking at the bottle of this foundation it looks like there is a lot of product left in, but there isn't *emoji crying face* the pump has given up on me and won't give me anything else and the bottle doesn't open to even scrape it out. Which is very very annoying. Since it running out I have bought another bottle that is a shade darker due to my summer glow and have missed the original formula after using the matte one for so long. If you are looking for a foundation that is lightweight, amazing coverage but not to pricey then this is the one for you.

That's it for this months empties! What products have you used up recently?

Dealing With Heartburn on Holiday

There are always little things that ruin your holiday or relaxing time, from stress and emotions to the killer one heartburn, dun dun dun. Now not many people suffer from it and I didn't think I did but I do occasionally and whilst been away currently I am doing as much as I can to avoid it ruining the fun...here are my top tips about how to get rid of heartburn, simple and easier!
Dealing With Heartburn on Holiday

First Things First - What is Heartburn?
Irritation usually in the throat/chest area due to
stomach acid and can cause you a great deal of discomfort. Eating too much and certain foods such as citrus fruits, tomatoes and drinking coffee can cause heartburn. If you know how to deal with it then you won't be getting it!
Now for my Top 5 Tips!

Dealing With Heartburn on Holiday

Tip 1 - Time

The most important thing to remember is to take your time when you are eating your food, if you rush you are going to be facing the consequences later. By taking one mouthful having a short rest and then another you aren't forcing food into your body too quickly, and this will help to avoid any heartburn later on.

Tip 2 - Amount

The amount that you choose to eat will also affect your heartburn and can cause the symptoms, instead eat in small amounts along with the tip above about time you should be able to get through you holiday without any problem.

Tip 3 - Move

Whilst you are away and do start to suffer from heartburn or even indigestion, then your best bet is to move around and keep going. If you stay sat or decide to have a lie down then you are just making it worst and in fact encouraging your heartburn to come and haunt you.

Tip 4 - Clothes

If you do feel everything is getting tighter and uncomfortable then change into something more comfortable, for example a maxi dress or even your pyjamas! This will help you tackle the burning sensation and you won't feel restricted.

Tip 5 - Aloe

This tip is more of remedy that you can try rather than something you can do, and that is to have some aloe vera juice. It is a drink that is readily available in health shops and an absolute life saver for us all. It is traditionally known to sooth burns and does the same thing for your stomach when you drink it, it is recommended that you have about 1/2 cup before a meal (up to you of course) and then this should soothe your stomach and help you out.

There you are, 5 simple and easy tips to help you deal with heartburn when away on holiday! They don't take much at all and will help make your holiday go as smooth as possible!

July Favoruites| Beauty, TV & More!

AUGUST? AUGUST? HOW ARE WE ALREADY IN AUGUST? It is so cliché saying I can't believe how quickly this month has gone, but in all seriousness where? Here are my July Favourites!

July Favoruites| Beauty, TV & More!

When I went to Germany I needed a face SPF that didn't stick to my face like glue and this was the one. It is a really thin formula and applies to the skin amazingly well, it sinks into your pores and fine lines as well to give you a overall matte look - doubling up as a primer too for the oily skin girls out there!

This body butter jsut smells like summer! It is so rich and sweet that when you wear it the smell comes off as though you are wearing a perfume. I haven't gone through this as quick as I have my other body butters from TBS because the smell can be a little bit sickening at times.

After months of searching for this Nicole kindly gifted it to me as a birthday present! The Little Mix eyes palette has been raved about since it came around because for the little  price you are getting 6 shades that are buttery, pigmented and long lasting. I really love the gold shade in here as an all over lid colour.

These two face products I have paired together as if I don't use one, I don't use the other! Why? Well because the cool undertones of the contour compliments the rose gold blusher really well and together they look divine.

The lipstick I have  been going back to over and over again this month is MAC's Please Me which is a stunning pink nude (of course it is!). It is a matte formula so it lasts all day and despite my intial thoughts of it been drying on the lips with plenty of lip balm underneath it goes on fine.

I do not know why I haven't mentioned these before because they are life changing. These magic nail drops work in a wonderful way, you apply a drop using the pipette on to your wet nails and allow it to soak in for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, your nails will be dry. Genius and A Life Saver!

The TV Favourite this month has been Criminal Minds, I am currently trying to catch up on all the seasons as I seem to have started from the latest series. Another one I have been loving is Nashville, so much drama! And one that has just started back in the UK is Devious Maids, full of drama, gossip and love - can't get enough!

What have you been loving this month??!

What I've Been Loving - Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream

Finding a base that is lightweight yet gives you coverage is hard, I used to love the L'Oreal True Match but it is now clinging to the dry patches. I decided to try something new, a very old product but like always I am late on the bandwagon it's the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream. I would have never even thought of trying this if it wasn't for Emily (aka EmilyLoula, make sure you check her out!). She has a special power that persuades me to buy things and when I saw her tweet about it, I asked it if it was worth it and she loves it - an hour later I went for it!

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream

I went with the shade Rose Beige which is the second to last darkest shade, it is the perfect match for my skin, the swatch looks really light but once rubbed in it is exact! The main thing that makes this CC Cream different to anything else is the 3 different pigments:
> APRICOT pigments > anti-fatigue
> GREEN pigments > anti-redness
> WHITE pigments > anti-dark spots
Upon my first application I noticed that it had in fact cancelled out my redness and dark spots which is just amazing as nothing but concealer usually does that. The CC Cream is very light weight, and with only one even layer I was more than happy with the coverage, it can be built up for a fuller coverage but I don't think there is no need.
The only that bothers me is the scent, it smells like there is perfume in there but my skin hasn't reacted to it which is very surprising in deed! SPF is only 15 not making it ideal for holiday or to wear in the sun unless you wear a extra SPF underneath.

Would I buy this again? For Sure! It is the best light base I have tried that works on my skin and it looks like Bourjois is becoming my new favourite brand...Have you tried this CC Cream?

Travelodge London Heathrow Central Review

Last Monday the family and I headed down to London to begin our holiday adventure, and it all started with a night over at Travelodge Heathrow Central, which is located right next to Heathrow airport with shuttle bus facilities.
Travelodge London Heathrow Central Review

Getting to the hotel was very easy and when you get closer to it you can see the bright Travelodge sign and the multi storey car park that is attached. I have been to a great deal of hotels in my life, and Travelodge style ones when we go away, but this one was fancier than the rest it looked beautiful from the outside and it was inside as well.

The Room

For the four of us the best option is a family room, this comes with a double bed, and two single pull out beds, which are a lot comfier than they look at first – I was well rested in the morning. Many Travelodges now offer king size beds in the rooms if you want to upgrade. We were however missing bedding for the extra bed, and the extra bed wasn’t set up so when someone came to check on us we told them and within five minutes we had our bed set up with fresh linen.
After we all got settled at around 11pm, we were absolutely starving! My mum and brother headed to the bar to see if they were still serving food and to our surprise they were – pizza! Unhealthy I know especially right before we go on holiday but oh well. After eating, talking and having a hotel room drink we went to bed.

The Bathroom

The thing I love about going to hotels to stay is the bathroom! I love seeing what it’s like and how it is to use. This bathroom was smaller compared to the room but came fully equipped with a bath, shower, sink and toilet. Being a shower girl this one was amazing and very powerful it definitely woke me up, and the four of us managed to go in and out without any worries.

I seem to be very excited in this post but this is the last time I promise! Food. How can you not get excited? At Travelodge you can everything that your heart desires, they have cereal options from Weetabix to coco pops. A full English option which I think many people tend to go for consisting of both vegetarian and meat options. Then you have your little things like jot drinks, fresh juices, bread, croissants and tiny jam pots and Nutella!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the London Heathrow central hotel, it felt nice ti have a break before a 18 hour flight and it is so much more convenient when you have an early/late flight. Even though at first the room wasn’t ready for js, we got dealt with straight away and the staff were very helpful.

LED Dresses: New LBDs?

LED dresses: New LBDs?
Unless you’ve been living under the rock for the past decade, you’ve surely had the chance to witness the abrupt going green, in lack of a better word, movement. And while the whole deal did take us by surprise given how suddenly and quickly this phenomenon got wings, it was about time for environmental consciousness to finally become the topic of both interest and doing!
The moment celebrities hopped on board and decided living green is the only right way to live, talks of eco life turned into strong campaigns, encouraging others to go green, too. And, that’s amazing!
Plenty celebrities are even spokespeople for raising eco consciousness, basing their eco preaching on their own lives – Leonardo DiCaprio spent $10 million on New York City pad making it ultra-green; the acclaimed TV journalist Lisa Ling also made sure her living space is leaving an environmental footprint. Public figures like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tricia Helfer, Daryl Hannah, Ed Begley Jr. and many more are supporting the nature, too in their own way. For instance, the gorgeous Brazil-born supermodel Gisele Bundchen who is a noted environmentalist reportedly had her staggering 22,000 square feet house designed and upgraded with as many eco-friendly bells and whistles as possible. This includes rainwater recycling systems, solar panels, and energy-efficient lighting and appliances. In fact, speaking on the topic of sustainable life, the model said that in addition to other eco-friendly items, LED lighting was an absolute must for her house, as it reduces energy consumption and is eco-friendly.

Unfortunately, exercising their right not to sacrifice their Hollywood-given gift of lush life, some celebrities, predominantly ones from the fashion world, are taking green living as a joke it seems.
What in fashion is hurting the environment?
The new trend in the world of singers, models, actresses and other crème de la crème personas is wearing technology. From likes of designers who have been branded “fashion forward” and “fashion changing”, we’ve seen LED-enhanced dresses, bodysuits and skirts which, in all honesty, do look great but are such a slap in Mother Nature’s face. Yes, proper lighting products such as LED lights are a better choice for anyone who wants to play Matrix with their creations, but in the long run such abuse of resources can’t bring anything good.
However, taught by experience – we know that fashion doesn’t care for anything but the fashion itself.
Sometime ago Katy Perry sported a jumpsuit fully laden with LED lights while on her 2014 tour. A year before that, Carrie Underwood wore a LED dress during the 2013 Grammy; the same year as Perry, Ariana Grande performed in a skirt and top that were covered in LED lights and of course Rihanna, who is a huge fan of wearable technology, wore a dress which was a combination of system of compressed gas systems and video capable LED circuits with a lighting sequence. Probably the most surprising was Nicole Scherzinger’s Twitter dress that featured 2,000 LED lights and 3,000 Swarovski crystals. The dress showed tweets in real time.

So, we couldn’t help but wonder whether this trend would just be a jewel in the crown of those who walk the red carpet or will there be a chance for the average consumer to get their hands on the dresses.
Interestingly, most designers have decided to take the LED trend to the more attainable markets. Twinkling and shining (literally!) dresses, jackets, wedding dresses, shoes, accessorize… aren’t just for those with deep pockets anymore! Prices of these weird but awe-striking creations have gone lower than we’ve ever thought they might and are now not just a dream, but potentially a part of any woman’s wardrobe. Well, any woman who is fashion-conscious at least. In all honesty, it would come as no surprise if LED became the new LBD.

How come that these dresses even came into existence?
The cultural shift in fashion has been evident for many years now and it was just a matter of time when young “weird” and “edgy” designers will liberate people’s inner oddness through the clothes they are making. Everyone is getting a kick from being “different” and out of the ordinary these days, so the LED clothes may just be their ticket.

Some companies have gone to the extent of allowing the wearer to broadcast whatever message they want on their shirts by texting messages to themselves.

And the psychological impact?

Designers have defended technologically enhanced clothing as “interactive, allowing emotions to be spelled out across your chest as well as your face”. As if we didn’t have emotions before technology hit our lives.

The new era brought about a very worrying trend where people identify their value with what they have on their backs. This is absolutely wrong for anyone who is looking to build a healthy self-worth. I fear that the technologically enhanced clothing may lead to people losing connection to their human identity and adopt the robot-like image which may quickly shift from cool to inhuman,  and people will get even more confused with their identities than they already are. Hopefully, this won’t happen.
