2019 Standouts

Happy New Year! I can't believe we're in 2020 - it just sounds odd. Last year was a tough one, it had its highs and lows, and I am quite happy to see the back of it if I'm honest. The start of last year, around this time was very tough in my work life.

Everything seemed to be getting too much to handle, but I made it through. Then in the middle of the year, my lovely grandma passed away so suddenly - and a few days before my birthday too, which was tough. Everything seemed to be going wrong, and life has just been all over the place. I feel like my space on the internet has suffered because of it too, but my NY resolution is to come back with A BANG.

I'm having a fresh start, keeping positive and ready to take the year ahead on with every inch of my body. I'm so excited to share with you today, some products that I have loved over the last year. Products that I can see myself loving for a very long time...

Because you know I'm all about that base...

I am so picky with foundation, having oily skin is a pain. I need something that looks good, won't slide off and gives me some coverage too. My ride or die primer this year has been the Milk Hydro Grip. The sticky texture of this can be off putting, but for me it grips on to my skin and helps with pores, oil control and shine. Two foundations that I have loved this year and repurchased a few times are very similar but different. The Urban Decay Naked foundation is perfect for evenings and events, its not too thick or heavy. However, it gives the skin a gorgeous natural finish/glow and lasts so well on the skin. There is an in depth review here. The L'Oreal foundation has been a love of mine since February, and I'm full on obsessed. It looks good, lasts well and is just the perfect foundation for me.
As you can see my Makeup Revolution bronzer is very very very well loved. I have hit pan and beyond this thing. I have just purchased a new one of these because I think its time to part ways. I love the look and feel of this bronzer. It gives my skin a lovely warmth tone and doesn't make me look muddy or orange.

Extra special products...

I found picking the next few products really difficult, its hard to narrow everything down! However, I've picked the things that I gravitate towards more than other things. The MUA highlighter palette is my favourite discovery of the year. It cost me only £5 and packs such a punch. All three highlighters are pigmented, pretty look iridescent on the skin. I love the formula too, very buttery and doesn't need much of a swirl in the pan either, a light tap is more than enough.

Natasha Denona is a brand that everyone seems to be talking about and will carry on. Yes the products are pricey but the quality is outstanding. This mini eye shadow palette might seem expensive but its beautiful. The shadows are great to create a variety of different looks and the pigmentation is insane- no fall out either! Lip products along with highlighters are my favourite things in the whole world, you can never have too many lipsticks. I have loved the combination of a lip liner and gloss this past year and can see this obsession carrying on...

MAC do brilliant lip liners (NYX are a great alternative) and Boldly Bare is one that standouts to me the most. Its a my lips but better colour and when paired with the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fussy it creates a lovely, plump, nude glossy lip. I wear this lip combination daily, it doesn't move around or feel sticky.

Skincare saviours...

I am finally getting somewhere with my skincare. The products I have been using are now staples and apart from a few switches, its all working really well. Three brands have really impressed me this year. 1. Dermalogica - I can't believe I work with them in a partnership, they do some fabulous products and everything from them has worked wonders on my skin. The Clear Start range is great for my skin as its made for those of us who have breakout prone skin. 2. Antipodes - Another brand that has taken my skincare loving heart. I love their creams and oils but this eye cream* has my designer eye bags looking much better than they did. 3. Of course we have to mention Pixi. A brand that just gets better and better with every range, the rose range is still my favourite one and the oil is the best thing of all. Its helped with hydration but also scarring- really helped to remove them and help them.

lace and favour

I have to give an honourable mention to jewellery too! 2019. was a year that I fell in love with wearing pieces that are cute, dainty and pretty. Rose gold has become one of my favourite types to wear, I have a few earrings and bracelets that I wear all the time. These two out of this world pieces from Lace & Favour have been items that I have not taken off these past few months. Lace & Favour do the most gorgeous pieces for all occasions, everything from rings to wedding veils! The bracelet is made up of pearls and small diamonds and looks so elegant on the wrist. It isn't heavy and is just perfect to wear all the time, not just special occasions. Then we have the stunning drop earrings, again in rose gold with pearls and small diamonds - these compliment my other jewellery pieces so well and I love how they look in the evening! I want to build my collection of these sort of items more this year and can't wait to get shopping...

2019, has really been a year of discovering what works and what doesn't. Saying that, I am very excited to see what 2020 has in store...and what brands have in store...

Thank you for sticking with me 💓
