Revolution Conceal and Hydrate Range on Oily Skin

You might be reading the title and thinking - what on earth is Parie on about?! Well its true, I am test out a hydrating range from Revolution on my very oily skin. It sounds like a skincare nightmare but as my skin starts to turn more dry in the winter, I thought it was time to put something to the test. The Revolution Conceal and Define range is a firm favourite of many. The concealer from the matte range, is a great dupe for the Tarte concealer, which I blogged about early last year. This 50 shade range however is infused with hyaluronic acid to hydrate, provide a plumping effect and create a gorgeous smooth, satin glow finish to the skin.Let's go on shall we...

F8 – For light/medium skin tones with a warm undertone

F8.5 – For medium skin tones with a yellow undertone

F9.5 – For medium skin tones with an olive undertone

F10.2 – For deeper medium skin tones with a neutral undertone

F11 – For medium/dark skin tones with a peach undertone

F11.2 – For deeper medium skin tones with an olive undertone

The foundation comes in a whopping 50 shades, with a range of undertones. I very kindly got send a selection of shades from 8 up to 11.2.You can see that each shade really does have its own unique undertone and this is why its important to really check your shade before buying. To make sure that you get the correct one and it doesn't wash you out in the wrong way.

The Conceal and Define foundation has a dofer foot applicator, whereas this one has a pump. A lot easier to use and control the amount of product, not to mention cleaner. I prefer this as my skin is always breaking out, so all the nasty stuff doesn't get transferred. It has a very runny formula but dries very quick, so its a blend as fast as you can.

APPLICATION

This foundation applied like a dream onto my skin. Despite, having a lot of texture and bumps this applied nicely over everything. I used a sponge as it was very runny but I think a brush would work just as well. I actually only ended up using one layer and it gave me such amazing coverage. I settled for mixing F10.2 and 11 to get the perfect match with my tan and I couldn't be happier with the overall look. The picture on the left is the foundation fresh applied then on the right is about 20 minutes later. At which point I had applied my bronzer and a little bit of highlighter. The foundation dried down to this semi-matte finish, that I didn't need to apply any powder as I was very happy with the look.

During the day, when checking up on my skin there wasn't much of a problem. Not much oil was seeking through, there was no breaking up or anything otherwise I would have wiped it all off.
Then around the 9 hour mark when I cam home from work and checked up, I remembered to take photos and the foundation looked completely different but it had held up well. This was the hour mark when I did start to get oily and foundation from my noise was rubbing away and settling into my lines. However, to last this long WITHOUT powder and setting spray on oily skin is a pretty good. I think this is a great foundation for all skin types, and each person will have a different experience with it.
Since this testing, I have worn it with powder in my tzone and found that it lasted a lot longer and looked good past nine hours. This is making me want to try more hydrating formula's for sure!

Of the two products, the concealer has become my favourite and one I haven't stopped reaching for and using. I love a good concealer and this one does not disappoint! It is suitable for covering blemishes, evening out skin tone and covering dark circles. It has a dofer application and is very easy to apply, blend and set in place. I love using this under the eyes to really brighten and lift the area. It also makes a great eyelid base for eyeshadow or even just to reduce the appearance of discolouration.

I love that it completely changes the look of the eye area. Giving it a boost with some hydration and brightness. I also can't get over how creamy this concealer is, on par with the likes of Tarte Shape Tape. Very easy to apply and blend out. It doesn't crease very easily and sits beautifully all day.

As an oily skinned person, who always gravitates towards matte formula's - this range has changed me. It has given me fuel to try other finishes and I am so excited to see what I can find!

Very sorry for the super long post - hope you enjoyed. Thank you as always!
