Make-up Organisation| Tips and Tricks

Make-up Organisation| Tips and Tricks

Before September came around I had to make sure that I gutted and cleaned every inch of my room - most importantly my makeup area. dun dun dun... but after plucking up the courage to do it I spent an entire Sunday morning tidying up the nooks and crannies of my makeup 'area'. Thought I would document my time and show you how I managed to do it all within a few hours.
I don't have the biggest makeup collection, but what I do have to doubles of everything and frankly things that I haven't worn in a really really long time.

I have the Ikea Chest Drawer thing, it has three draws and then this top section as well. In the first draw i keep all my makeup and skincare and then the top holds all my clear storage that looks really pretty. I am always getting things out to use and then am far too lazy to then put them back in the right place and then it leads to having everything everywhere and no room to breathe.

The first thing I did was empty all my makeup and skincare bits on to the floor and sort them into piles of stuff. Hiding in the corner is the two pots of my very dirty makeup brushes, along with lips at the top right, then face, cheeks, eye shadow, eyes and then skin. This made it a whole lot easier to see what I own and to start the next stage. This is the 'Clean and Get Rid Of Stage' here you need to seriously decide what is worth keeping that you will carry on using and the things that you haven't touched or can't remember about and bin those. I will admit that if you are a beauty lover like me, you tend to hold on to things because of the price, or the memories that come with it. But I was being really brutal this time!

Eventually, I managed to sort through everything and have my breakfast whilst doing so.The end result made me feel proud and very pleased with myself. The draw is now in different sections instead of all jumbled up. In the top left long box we have skincare, below that in the tiny box is full of 'more lip produtcs'.. In the two bigger boxes I decided to have a box full of eyes and various face products and then the other has all my base products and cheek products. Then a body butter, deodorant can, makeup bag, headphones and brushes (which should really be clean now!).
On top I managed to nicely organise my storage so that all my lipsticks/glosses/balms are together in height ish order. I have a thing about things that need to look right. All my nail polishes are sorted by brand (spy all the barrym gelly's!) and then the draws have the smaller eye shadow palettes in along with some perfume and nail care essentials that I need to use more.

Hope you enjoyed this different type of post!

The Ultimate Guide To Freshers Week

Top 11 tips for surviving Fresher’s week
The Ultimate Guide To Freshers Week
Starting university can be one of the most daunting things to go through. Moving away from your friends and family can be a scary time.

But it needn’t be as frightening as people make out. There are plenty of ways to ensure your move into uni halls go smoothly. Follow these top tips for surviving Fresher’s Week:

1. Make your room homely – Moving into somewhere new can be a very daunting experience. That first night in your new room can be an odd and unsettling one, especially if you are moving straight from home and all its comforts. Create your own little space by making your room homely, like your room at home. Put up posters, make your bed, create nice lighting and decorate your space with trinkets and memorabilia.

2. Keep your door open when unpacking – While you are unpacking and sorting out your room keep your door open. This will encourage people to stop by your room and start conversation as you will appear more approachable.

3. Keep treats in your room – Everyone loves cake! If possible, have cake or chocolate or sweets in your room and give them out to your new house mates. This will get the conversation started and you will come across as a nice person to live with.

4. Play music – Have some music playing which you are setting up your room. Play it loud enough that your new flat mates will be able to hear it in the hall but not so loud as to annoy them. Hopefully this will get conversations started as people will come in and ask about your music taste. Before you know it you will be discussing Biffy Clyro, Rihanna and Avicii!

5. Buddy up – Once you have met your flatmates, buddy up! It can be scary having to go and talk to new people without a friend by your side to back you up, so gather your flat mates and go chat to people. Suggest a house outing to a fresher event to try and get the conversation flowing.

6. Save a taxi number to your phone – Moving to a new city or area of the country means you don’t know your way around and probably know even less when under the influence of alcohol! Make sure you google a local taxi number and save it to your phone, but to be even more sensible, find a local taxi number from the Student Union as these will be recommended companies. At least if you get lost you can call a cab to come and save you from a 10 mile walk home!

7. Check fresher week schedules – With so much going on during Fresher’s week, it can be hard to keep up. Sign up to email notifications of events going on your campus and suggest events to your flat mates. Even if they aren’t keen to go, go along by yourself and chat to people – it’s the only way to make friends!

8. Condoms – Sometimes a drunken night can lead to a little too much fun… ensure you are prepared by carrying a condom or two. Not only do these prevent pregnancy (obviously!) but also the passing on of sexually transmitted diseases and vaginal infections such as BV.

9. Try to go to as many social events as possible – Try to attend as many events during Fresher’s week as you can. It may be tiring but it will mean that you are open to making friends and getting to know your campus and university.

10. Take your vitamins – With so many social events to attend, it is important to keep your energy levels up and your immune system strong. Taking multi-vitamins and supplements from Nutrition Centre will help keep your immune system strong. Try taking Nature’s Own Vitamin C Extra to help avoid the dreaded ‘Fresher’s Flu’.

11. Always take cash out with you when you go out – You don’t want to be the one everyone has to loan money to because you haven’t got cash on you. Make sure you carry enough cash on you to have a couple of drinks and be able to get home.

Find out more about getting the right vitamins for you on the Nutrition Centre! Also why not buy yourself a face mask from Montagne Jeunesse whilst you relax before you go out!

9 Months Later| NY Resolutions

 NY Resolutions

A few 9 months ago I set me self a few blogging NY Resolutions to stick by and see if I can get through them by the end of the year. I thought I would do a 'what have i done so far' type post to see what need to be done and what has been done. You can read the original post here but I am going to quickly go through what I have achieved.
1. Have my own domain - DONE! I am so pleased that this year I managed to finally buy my .com that I have been wanting for so long.
2. Relax about posts and not stress - Kind of! I seem to be able to stick to posting three times a week but slowly am finding it hard with school been a lot more demanding. Hence why I am now starting to post less but making the posts more fun to read.
3. Buy a tripod - No! Okay, so this still needs to be done and still need to find a tripod for my phone to sit on which makes it easier to take OOTD pictures and other ones in general. But I still manage to post more OOTD photos than before so that's a plus.
5. Improve Appearance - DONE! I am also very happy that I have got a nicer and neater blog design that looks so much more professional. My blog isn't ever going to look perfect but that is ok!

I am doing very well and hopefully by the end of the year all this will be DONE!
Have you achieved anything big this year?

The Primark £1 Nails!

The Primark £1 Nails!

I posted this exact picture on my Instagram a few weeks back and my oh my did I get come lovely comments, as well as people at work telling me how lovely these nails are. Many were surprised to know that they are actually fake and not real! I found these super easy to apply and to wear as for me they weren't that long, I was scared to use and them and hoped that they wouldn't pop off..but they managed to stay on my nails for a few days and I am glad I went with this pattern as its perfect for the summer. I would recommend going out and buying a pack, they have such a wide range of choice for you to choose from and are worth it for only £1!
