Dermalogica Clear Start FlashFoliant Review

The Dermalogica Clear Start range is specifically targeted towards those with breakout prone skin - meeee! A range that I can use and doesn't irritate my skin in the slightest. I've tried most of the range, the moisturiser is my favourite product in the line and with the addition of their new FlashFoliant, I couldn't wait to hear about it and learn more. I was super lucky to attend a Zoom press event, where we not only did some artwork but also learnt about the product and exactly how to use.

What is FF?

''A leave-on, flash-foaming chemical exfoliant that helps clear and prevent breakouts while brightening skin. Salicylic Acid, a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), helps wipe out existing and future breakouts to clear skin. Tangerine Peel Extract brightens dull skin while Grape Extract –a potent source of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) –exfoliates dead skin cells to help even skin tone.''

How to use?

The texture and way to use this product is really interesting and different to anything I have ever seen or used. To dispense the product you squeeze it out the bottle and the foam will appear, this then needs to be applied on to the skin using your hands. You can then follow with serums and moisturisers.

I was very hesistant to try the FF at first, as my skin doesn't always get along with chemical exfoliators. Escpically ones that are a mix of different acids, but after using it now for a good month and a half  - I have to say I am impressed.

The foam made me think that i would leave a sticky residue and leave my skin feeling stripped or dry, however I haven't experienced anything like that! Once you apply it to your skin with the palms of your hands, it turns into a water based product and leaves your skin looking dewy and then sinks straight in without any stickiness or dryness.

It definitely has a strong orange smell but it doesn't irritate my skin. After using it for a while, I have certainly noticed a change in the way my skin looks. Its a lot less red and a lot more brighter than it was before. Even my Mum commented on how much of a glow I had to me and a glow that wasn't oily or greasy. If the mother gives my skin a compliment, you know that there is something working! I use this only in the mornings either with skincare on top or just moisturiser then my makeup. It really gives me a nice dewy look for makeup and I love it.

Overall, I do really like this and I will 100% be picking up another bottle as soon as I run out. It's affordable at only £19! It can be used alongside other products in the ClearStart range and other products that I own. If you're in the market for a new chemical exfoliator under £20 then this is one to try, might seem gimmicky but works wonders!
