Summer Work Makeup

I've gone from wearing a full face of makeup everyday to wearing it once in a while, my skin is loving it but my makeup filled heart is hating it. I have however, started to go into work a lot more now, to get things ready for September and to look after key worker children...its been the perfect excuse to put some on and have a play. This is a post all about my 'summer work makeup', its medium coverage, lightweight and completely sweat proof!

Long Lasting Base

To keep my makeup on for the whole day, without oil seeping through or sweat melting it all off, I have to prep my skin well. I tend to keep skincare pretty minimum, only a toner and then follow up with the Dermalogica SPF*, this acts as my sun protection and moisturiser in one. Its not greasy, heavy and doesn't leave a white cast. I then follow up with the Milk Hydro Grip Primer, this stuff is sticky but primes the skin well and really helps with makeup application going smoothly.

Powder Before and After

I've then started doing something I've seen on the web a few times, a slight dusting of powder in my t-zone before I apply any foundation. I don't know why this works but it really does help with oil in my troublesome areas. Then, I go in with my trustee L'oreal Freshwear Foundation - this stuff is amazing, I have back ups because I never want to run out. Gives a lovely medium coverage and makes my skin look incredible. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation is a 2 in 1, can be used as a concealer too, which is perfect because I bought the wrong shade and its great to highlight and conceal with. After I've blended all this in, I go all over with my Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, almost like a powder sandwich.

A little bit of colour

At this point, my face looks quite flat and needs some colour adding in! I apply the Butter Bronzer in a 3 all over my face to give me that sun kissed summer look and then I go in with the lightest dusting of blush. This isn't normal for me- I am a highlighter girl, always have been but this EX1 blush caught my eye recently and I just had to pick it up! Switching to a pinky nude blush in the summer time just works so well, it gives me some life and nice bit of colour to my face too.

The Extras

The final step in keeping everything in place is the UD All Nighter Setting Spray, I can't live without this!! Its the best setting spray I have used, I don't even want to try any others because I trust this one so much. If I'm feeling up for it and my eyes aren't all puffy from hayfever, mascara gets applied to my lashes.

My routine seems so simple compared to other people's but I think sometimes, simple makes it more effective and long lasting and this definitely keeps me looking good all day.
