Tackling Blackheads & Pores

Korean Beauty is such a vast world. I find that you can find products for absolutely anything, but its so overwhelming as there is just so much choice! I know, that if I were to visit any of the Asian countries, I would spend most of my time in the beauty shops buying new things to try out. I've been lucky in the past to try out different products from them and one day will have to do a must haves post, because the products are excellent! My most recent finds, helped me discover a new cleansing balm that has changed the makeup removal game. Today we are talking all about blackheads and pores...two common problems amongst us all....

Large Pores

Causes

When your facial glands produce excessive sebum that mixes with the dead skin cells in your pores, your pores can become blocked. The sebum cannot come our freely from the pores, resulting in your pores becoming wider and more clearly visible. For many of us, this is mainly in our t-zone, primarily in the area of our cheeks.

Do's and Don'ts

> Use an exfoliant with salicylic acid (BHA) in gel or liquid form, without any irritating ingredients. It will enable you to remove excess skin cells from the surface of the skin as well as in the pores.

 > Clay face masks absorb sebum and have a positive effect.

> Retinoids or retinol (vitamin A) work well. They exist for every skin type and can be used separately or in combination with a BHA exfoliant.

> Protect your skin from sunlight! UV rays in sunlight damage your skin cells so they don’t function as well as they should.

This toner contains a combination of amazon white clay, volcanic ash extract, tea tree and aloe. All four ingredients have been combined to create a very powerful and strong toner. I love applying toners in the morning and evening, this is more suited at nighttime. I take a tiny bit on a cotton pad and sweep it over the areas that I need it, as it has a slight tingly sensation to it. After consistent use, my pores are slowly beginning to shrink. Its clearing out the dirt and sebum in my pores, yet it doesn't dry my skin out or leave it flaky. I love that this is a powerful toner but I do wish it didn't smell so strong - it can be off putting at times.

I love the foamy feeling of something and this lip mask does just that. This lip mask gets rid of any dead skin on the lips and leaves them feeling moisturised and so soft. I've found that working from home during all this craziness has dried my lips out really bad. I've been applying lip balm all day but this just removes the surface and does a good job too.

Blackheads

Blackheads are one of those things that we sort of just accept and when we spot them we focus more on getting rid of them than addressing the reasons why we get them in the first place.

Blackheads are small,  bumps that form on the skin when an individual pore gets clogged by dead skin or the natural oils that our skin produces.

This was one of those products I didn't really get much out of, but my brother has. He has more of a blackhead problem than I do. I have them and they are there but not as apparent. All you have to do with this stick is rub it over the areas of concern when the skin is wet, and then rinse off. He has found instant results with this, but I always think that boys have much better skin than girls - products work miracles on him first time round. He is going to keep using this up and probably expect me to buy him a new one...

In my opinion, you can never have too many cleansers. I love switching mine up, and try not to use the same one repetitively as my skin gets used to them. I've been using more hydrating products since having chemical peels but I still have to try and keep acne/breakouts at bay. Hands down, a tiny amount of this cleanser first thing in the morning has made a BIG difference to my skin. It contains salicylic acid, which is acne's enemy as it kills it off. Using this every other morning (its too drying to use every day) to cleanse has made controlled my breakouts, cleared up active ones and helped through my hormonal breakouts too. I love ittttt.

There is not one product from the korean beauty world that I don't love, not come across one as of yet. Let's hope this lucky streak keeps going. If you fancy trying any of these or other products, you can use my code INF10GLITTER on the https://www.stylevana.com/en_US/ website.
