The Universal Shirt Dress

Hi everyone! I'm back, after a wonderful holiday in Hawaii and minor hiatus from blogging it feels so good to be back on the keyboard typing away. Today, I bring you the first of what will be many holiday related posts. I have a haul coming too because I bought a lot of makeup..maybe too much!

This particular outfit is all about the dress, which I have worn to death and no doubt will be still worn over the next few months in so many different ways. Dresses can be a struggle to find in this day an age, so many are really short or have lots of fancy cut outs. These are the dresses for me, I like the classic versions or ones that suit me. Always someone who sticks to what she's comfortable with rather than following what everyone else does.

A little bit of blue looks amazing with a tan and this shirt dress from River Island is just to die for. The dress sits just above my knee at the front and then is slighter longer in the back, I think this style is so unique and makes my legs look so much more elongated. As you can see, its not just one block colour; there are lots of different patterns that work together. In some parts there is a block geometric pattern and then a dark floral print running through it. It buttons up too, which has been a very popular trend this summer. On the left shoulder it has a slight little twist that ruffles up to add a bit on an edge to the dress. I paired it with the beach as a background (too pretty to not use!) and some simple sandals with a cross body bag. Both accessories matched the white in the dress and brought the colour.

This style of dress also comes in brown stripes and white leopard print - I think I might need them both. I can see myself wearing this for work next month too, as it isn't too short and it looks formal when worn with a blazer and ballet pumps too. I wore this in the evening and on the beach due to it being so lightweight and flowy. I've styled this dress to suit me, keeping it simple and low key which is just me. Shirt dresses are becoming my new addiciton!
