Special Occasion Makeup Must Haves

My calendar is currently filled with so many different events! In two weeks is my graduation, then I have lots of birthdays, a wedding or two and then we're going away on holiday which is a whole other occasion in itself. When packing my makeup for any of these events, there are things that I always take with me no matter what, the ride of die products that work so well they can't be missed out of my bag.

Primer// For someone with oily skin using a primer is a must! My obsession with the Primark Primer Water is real, to the point where I have three back up bottles in case they ever stop selling it. I love this to hydrate the skin and to help keep all my makeup in place. It works under every single foundation and never messes about with the products that are applied on top. Of course before this is skincare, and using products that make the skin feel ready for makeup to be applied.

Long Lasting Products// Occasions are the wrong time to be trying out new products, stick to what you know will work and love. I tend to reach for the Fenty foundation or EL Double Wear, as I know that they will last on my skin throughout the day without getting oily and give me the perfect amount of coverage. Along with this is a good stay in place powder, Rimmel's Stay Matte is the only powder I use and ever have, I am looking out for one to replace it but nothing compares. It mattifies, sets and keeps my makeup in place. Also great to pop in the clutch to use as a quick blot throughout the day.

Eyelashes// One thing that does excite me about special occasions is the the idea of wearing lashes. I am awful at applying them but when I do get them on (after blood, sweat and tears) they look gorgeous. They add something amazing to every makeup look and you just can't beat the fluttery look that it creates. There are some girls that can wear them everyday and props to them! These are the infamous Ardell Demi Wispies* (£14.50 for pack of 5), if there is one style of lash that I always hear good things about it is these. They offer the perfect amount of flutter, length and volume to make the lashes pop. I have been applying these with the DUO lash glue, which is hands down the best thing to use with lashes - it dries quickly and is invisible on the lash line. This is a actually a value pack that you can now buy, so that you never run out of the perfect style of lashes.

Setting Spray// I can't do any makeup look day or night without using UD All Nighter, it is incredible at helping makeup last. A few sprays of this on top of my finished look and then flapped with a book keeps me looking f.l.a.w.l.e.s.s all the damn time. I love that this is a lightweight setting spray compared to others that I have tried and it doesn't feel tacky on the skin. I have got so many people into this and they all say the same thing 'its a godsend!

Not technically makeup, but nice looking nails is an essential for any special occasion. The newly released CND Vinylux Range is called the Boho Spirit Collection and the shades are stunning.
This pretty duo* is made up of shades that aren't usually my cup of tea but are now on my toes and soon fingers permanently too. The very bright and bold orange is called 'Gypsy' and looks just like an orange, this with some glitter actually looks amazing. Then there is 'Vagabond' which is a pale yellow that is just a bit lighter than the colour of a lemon. I think this pastel sort of shade is perfect for anyone who loves to be daring with their nails. The formula of these are like no other, long lasting, the perfect colour just after one coat and it stays chip free for more than two weeks.

A special occasion is the perfect excuse to get all your fancy clothes and makeup out! What are your essentials?
