Mexican Masterclass with Barburrito

Barburrito
Warning this may make you extremely hungry! The other week, I attended a Burrito Masterclass with the lovely people at Barburrito at their Boar Lane Restaurant, Leeds. Having only just found out that this exists on Boar Lane, I am now hooked to going as I only ever knew of the one on The Headrow. Anyway, the restaurant is lovely! Lots of little booths and long tables for friends and family to gather round and enjoy the delicious mexican goodies! I love Mexican Food and couldn't wait to get stuck in and amp up my knowledge on how to master the perfect burrito.

Barburrito

When we (me and my brother) walked in, we were greeted by the lovely Steph from Barburrito Marketing Department and she told us all to get comfy, grab a drink and much on some nachos. Those things are so addictive, you have one and before you know it you have finished the entire bowl - oops. On the table was also a few little cards, with different facts on. Steph told us lots of information about Barburrito as a business, how they started, where you can find them and about the chain in general.

Barburrito

Then came the food! Before we got into anything, we were allowed to try out different bits and pieces to see what fillings we liked in our burrito's and the tray came out with so many little dishes I was feeling very overwhelmed. We are vegetarian, so I have no idea what the meat things were but the veg stuff was DELICIOUS! In the rice you have the choice of brown rice or mint, then mild or spicy beans, mushrooms or peppers and onions, and then a range of salsa's starting from mild to extra spicy - which blows your head off. All of it was amazing and I couldn't get enough.

Barburrito

Then after the taste tests, we got taught how to wrap a burrito, the bit I was looking the most forward to because my fillings always and I mean always fall out of the bottom. It was pure genius how to wrap them, you fold both the right and left sides in, then in half from top to bottom, tap the wrap so all the ingredients go to the bottom and then don't fall out and then place it down flat again and fold the corners in to avoid leaks and then wrap!! How amazing is that!

Barburrito

After the tasting and learning the masters of making a burrito - it was time to make. Now I was not prepared for this, but we actually got to go behind the counter and physically make the burrito. It was such an eye-opener to see behind the glass and really get stuck in, also scary because the staff were still serving normal customers and I was very slow compared to them.
Firstly you put the wrap in the press for three seconds and then lift it and place it on the tinfoil, you then have to work your way down the counter to fill it up with your fillings starting with rice and the beans and fill it up in the middle and spread it out evenly. Then add your vegetables/meat choice and then the salsa, sour cream and guac my favourite part of the wrap because it makes the whole thing come together.

Barburrito

And voilà! The finished product, wrapped, filled and in a basket, not going to lie it didn't last very long and pictures didn't happen because I wanted to finish it straight away.

I had an amazing night and am still reminiscing about the food I ate, and highly recommend any lovers of mexican food to pop into their local Barburrito and see what tickles your fancy because it is amazing.

L'Oreal Strikes AGAIN!

My love of L'Oreal just keeps on growing, I am currently swooning for True Match and Infallible and now there is a new foundation in town and I am loving it as well. The newest release from them is their Infallible Matte Foundation and to match a Mattifying Primer, today will be a double trouble review because they are indeed two products that need to be used, in my opinion together.
Infallible Matte Foundation

Packaging
The first thing about this duo is that they are both in squeezy tubes with nozzles as applicators, traditionally foundations from the brand have pumps and are in glass bottles but this is totally new and different to anything I have seen before. The good thing is that at least you can see how much you are using it because of it being clear and you don't have to spend ages shaking around to try and get the last drops out of the pump. The bad thing, it goes everywhere - it is very hard to control the amount of product that comes out and I struggle! You can also see on the back of each one it tells you the texture and the coverage, that is such a good idea but sometimes not such a good one as brands think that their products are better than what they actually are...
Infallible Matte Foundation

Primer
In my eyes this is a silicone texture primer, feels very much like the Benefit Porefressional but is clear rather than coloured. It is also very wet and take a few minutes to sink into the sink, so I leave a gap between applying this and my foundation. I personally think that this primer only works with the L'Oreal primer to keep you matte all day, but that doesn't mean to say it doesn't work well with other foundations, because it does, just not as long lasting and doesn't turn a dewy foundation like True Match into a matte one. After sinking into the skin, my skin feels as smooth as hell - is that really weird??
Infallible Matte Foundation

Foundation
The star of the show and another one to add to my holy grail list, the foundation is everything you expect from L'Oreal and more if you ask me! It has a very thick consistency, which is scary but then again they claim it to be 'full coverage' so it isn't much of a surprise. The beauty of the foundation is that when you blend it into your skin it feels really light weight and as though there isn't anything on your face. In one layer it covers up most of the redness, spots and evens out my skin tone. But to get that heavy coverage which covers everything and anything you definitely need two even layers, don't be put off by the consistency because you actually need the tiniest little bit and it goes a long way. It is meant to be a matte foundation and I fully believe that because as you can see in the pictures nothing is looking dewy, but part of me still has to powder due to not trusting my out of control oil that creeps up during the day.
One thing is for sure that as well as using a primer, you do need to moisturise if your skin is dry - I found that around my nose and my hairline it was clinging to it and looked horrible but the second time after a rather large helping of coca butter it was much better, not perfect but better.

Infallible Matte Foundation

With only the foundation and primer on

I cannot heavily fault this duo that much, because it is all good! If you happen to pop into Boots/Superdrug soon then keep any eye out for it and pick it up to try! The shades are very limited so do make sure you swatch, test and try them all out.

Wearing Food as Jewellery? Yes Please!

I love my food, I mean who doesn't? Today, my dreams are coming true, because I am finally able to actually wear items of food as jewellery!! The whole concept is mind blowing yes, but it is also truly amazing and why hasn't someone thought of this before? AlphabetSuitcase is a business run by twins Lucy and Jen, they put their passion for jewellery into motion by creating unique pieces that allows us all to share their love of design.

Recently, they have started a subscription service and it is nothing like the typical ones that around this is a lot more different, current and new! The Knick Knack subscription boxes are a mystery to everyone and each month for only £20 you get sent various items of jewellery and accessories. Every month has a theme and this months is a Junk Food special (my favourite type of food!!!) so I was very excited to open it up and see what was inside.....SPOILER ALERT!

Ahhh, how cute is everything that you see! Starting a the back in the left hand corner we have an ice cream necklace which is perfect for wearing in the summer with a white top and really lifts that pastel trend! Then next to that we have like a keyring cake which honestly makes you want to eat it when you look at it, full of 'cream' and strawberries on top, what more do you want! Then there is a Lip gloss Whoopie Pie which smells divine, I find it baffling how things can smell like they look and this is exactly what this is! Towards the front there is a selection of hair grips that you can add into your hair for a little bit of something different, I think that the little hotdog is the cutest thing ever. Then the best thing I have ever seen - burger earrings - i mean can you get anything better? These make me really hungry looking at them but I won't them don't worry!!

All the pieces are very quirky and different to anything I have in my wardrobe at the moment and think that wearing these will make me look a little bit more fun!

Rediscovered #1 - Sleek Rose Gold Blush

My name is Parie and I am always buying stuff instead of using what I have. Well no more amigos, I am determined to start using up the stuff I have and am pushing myself to finish them so then I have an excuse to buy new stuff. The first thing I am wanting to finish off and start to use again is this Sleek Rose Gold blush which I was obsessed with when I first got it and then pushed to the back of my draw.
