Preparing the Skin for Makeup

Makeup is wonderful, the different type of products, packaging, tools - all of it.The whole process from start to end really relaxes me and puts me in a calming mood, even when I'm in a rush. The part that is really important before any of the applying or blending is the preparation. Products/steps that you should take to get the skin ready for the makeup. For some people its a whole routine, for me, its a quick few things and I know that it will leave me with plump and ready to go skin...

Pixi Vitamin C Range Review

I have two concerns when it comes to my skin, the first being spots and the second being scars. These two things are what I try and target everyday, to help reduce/minimise/go away. Anything that helps them becomes a favourite product of mine. When Pixi sent over their entire Vitamin C* range, I was very excited. I had heard so many benefits of using VC for scarring and hyperpigmentation, and I couldn't wait to get started and discover the benefits for myself.

5 Korean Skincare Tips

Korean beauty has taken over the world by storm and I have been a big fan. I love that their is a stress on the importance of looking after the skin before anything else and I am obsessed with all the different, unusual products. I've reviewed many Korean skincare products on here in the past, from Cosrx to Klairs. In today's post I thought it is about time that I share some Korean skincare tips...tips that I've learnt along the way...

Pre-Holiday Pamper

We booked a last minute family holiday and I am so excited! I need some sun, sea and sand in my life - and a much needed break. Before jetting off in a couple of weeks, there are a few things I need to do to prepare myself. It amazes me that women have so much to do/prepare before going away, but men - hardly anything! These are just a few things that I do to make myself look and feel good before Even stepping on the plane.

Summer Skincare Picks

My very breakout prone skin is loving the weather at the moment, its given it some life. To help with that I've stripped back my routine to keep it simple, hydrating and still targeting my key concerns; breakouts, oiliness and pigmentation. The following 4 products have made a difference to my overall skin.

Pixi Glow Collection

Pixi is a brand that I talk about regularly talk about on here, instagram and even in real life. So much so that I gave some friends products from their rose range to try. Its a love affair. Their newest and amazing PR package was full of their glow tonic range, it sounded incredible. If the glow tonic wasn't enough, then this range just blew me away. I've tried pretty much everything, some hits and misses - let's break it down...

Summer Staples: SPF

Caudalie are one of the many skincare brands that I adore. Their products are kind to the skin, target specific concerns and do the job on the tin - to put it lightly. Their newest venture is in sun care and it couldn't be timed better. With the sunshine out in the UK and my summer holiday paid for, the SPF is sorted thanks to Caudalie.
The new sun care range offers a high factor protection from harmful rays, protect the skin against ageing and smells amazing. The line has 5 products to offer; SPF 30 face sun care, SPF 50 sun care, Milky sun spray SPF 30, Milky sun spray SPF 50, Sun care oil.  The range is for everyone and there are two stand outs for me..

Figs and Rouge Morning Skincare

Skincare has become so important to me in the last year or so. It makes such a difference to my overall look and when I wear makeup. In the morning, I tend to keep it simple and quick as I don't have much time. With the new Morning Revival range from Figs and Rouge, I can do exactly that! These two products have become a staple in my morning routine, giving my skin a fresh, dewy base ready for makeup.

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence Review

I've been loving Dermalogica products for around 2 years now and they have changed my life. Products that have worked magic on my spots, scarring and the overall look and feel of my skin. Couldn't be without them. Their newest product is the Redness Relief Essence, that is like a serum and toner in one. In the k-beauty world, essence plays a big role in the skincare routine.  Its a key part of the 10 step routine and it's about having the right products that do the right things, and using them in the right order. I've tried to use it as often as possible for the past month and this is a round up of my thoughts...

Currently Loving #7

Happy May! The months are flying by and I am loving a whole new set of products. From skincare to makeup, there's a whole mix! My aim in April was to really shop my stash, use products that have been collecting dust and trying my hand at new products too.

L'Oreal Foundation (full review)
I have no bad words to say about this foundation, none. This is actually my second bottle and I can't imagine life without it. It gives me medium coverage for everyday, lasts on my face through work and hides everything. The biggest positive for me is that despite it having quite a fragrant smell to it, my skin doesn't break out and I haven't broken out whilst using it.

MAC Soar Lipstick with Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fu$$y
This lip combination is one that I can't get enough of! Soar is a stunning lip liner from MAC and one that I have used for years, when they realised the lipstick form - it took me seconds to order it and I am so glad I did. This shade is the perfect dark, mauve pink nude and just looks gorgeous. When paired with the Fenty gloss on top, my lips are in heaven. This gloss isn't sticky or irritating, like some are. Its lightweight and easy to wear - so no hair sticking on the lips!

My under eyes have become so dry recently. When I don't drink enough water, they really suffer and more than ever a few weeks ago they were horrible. They hurt to rub and there was so much flaky skin. The only thing that helped them and restored them back to normal was this eye cream from Antipodes. It was soothing on the very sensitive area and provided it with some moisture. I popped it in the fridge a few nights and the cooling sensation on my eyes was so nice.

Sunday Riley U.F.O Oil
SR is a very luxury skincare brand, this is only the second item from them that I have ever tried but I am keen to try so much more. This oil was one I bought from someone on Instagram, who was selling a bottle only 1/4 for £25  - a bargain! I apply this on my chin every night because the combination of ingredients help the spots stay at bay, even when its the time of the month. It keeps them away and I couldn't be without it.

Zara Perfume
On a recent trip to the beloved Zara, I picked up one of their perfumes to try and I am madly in love. This one is my everyday work scent, a quick spritz and I'm good to go. Its very floral and sweet, which is what I love for work and the scent *actually* lasts on me for a few hours. I just loveeee it.

Lifestyle

I am loving green tea at the moment, I seem to be drinking like 6 cups a day. Its very good for you and at work instead of coffee with lots of sugar in, this is much better.
In the TV world there are so many things at the moment. Jane the Virgin is currently on its final run and the emotions are high. I am so invested in the series, the characters and the storyline that I don't want it to end!! There is also Station 19, which is a Grey's spin-off, and the drama that happens is so interesting! I went to see Avengers: Endgame last week and my goodness it was incredible.

Weekend Facials with Pixi

This bank holiday is all about skin. Giving it the treatment and love that it needs and that's all thanks to Pixi. They've really taken over my skincare cabinet - literally. I've been using a lot of the rose collection, which you can read about here but now there's the addition of their masks too! I have always been into masking but never thought that you could put on so many at the same time.

Glow 2OH Dark Spot Toner Review

I was over the moon when I heard that Ole Henriksen was finally coming to the UK and of all shops it was going to be Boots that would be stocking them. A site that has a range of brands and has stores everywhere. There have been a few things from the brand that I have wanted to try but when I spotted a stand in my local store there was one thing on my list to get - the dark spot toner. I've heard so many rave reviews about this and it just had to be mine. Never have I spent this much on a toner (£22!!) but I had high hopes.

Procoal Activated Charcoal Scrub Review

My skincare is my life. More so recently than makeup, its just the base for everything. I adore the products that can be used in the shower or a quick fix. I spoke about the Procoal Marine Moisture Mask not that long ago and since have repurchased them because they are amazing. I love using them during the week when my skin needs some TLC. They add some nourishment and love. Procoal have recently added the Activated Charcoal Scrub* to their ever growing range.

Pixi Rose: What Worked and What Didn't

I can't even express the excitement every time I get a Pixi parcel delivered to the door. Such a well known, high quality brand and little old me receives there gorgeous products to try - MIND BLOWN. A couple of months, the entire rose range arrived in a lovely pink, personalised travel bag. There was so much to choose from that I really wanted to get my teeth into all the products before sharing my thoughts. After a lot of trial and error, I've managed to put everything into a pile of works amazing and not so amazing/I can't seem to make them work. Some things work for some people and for others they don't.

Antipodes Holy Grails

All I seem to be taking about lately is skincare on here and on instagram, but I seem to be getting a slight obsession with it. My skin has become so important to me and the way my makeup looks is down to my skin. Antipodes have been a brand that I have loved for over a year now, and each time I use their products I notice an instant difference in my skin - without a doubt. Even my mum does! That is the biggest seal of approval for sure. I have pretty much talked about every product from them on here ... but these 4 are my current go-to's, holy grail status!

Why Sheet Masks are the Perfect Sunday Treat

Sheet masks are the easiest and most effective way to give your skin some love. They are also a very fun way to relax by yourself or with others - who doesn't enjoy a good giggle?! These are just the many benefits of sheet masks, in fact, the list is endless. My current go to sheet mask and the one that is currently on my face, is the Procoal Marine Mositure Mask. Procoal are a British brand that produce high quality beauty products that are kind to the skin.

Sephora Paris Haul

Back in December, really close to Christmas I had the best trip ever to Disneyland Paris. Myself and Nicole wondered off to the city for a little long weekend away to celebrate the amazing year we had. Round the corner from the hotel was a shopping mall and hidden inside was of course a Sephora! We couldn't help ourselves when we went the first time... we ended up going in again. In hindsight, I didn't actually pick up as much as I thought I did for myself as most of the things ended up being Christmas presents for friends. However, the things I did pick up have been sat waiting to be blogged about! There wasn't the biggest selection of brands there but lots of pretty things nonetheless.

PURE Papaya Care Review

Every now and again, a brand comes along that completely changes my life. I've stumbled across a few in my blogging years and PURE Papaya is one of them - I can't stop boasting about them in real life and now its time for the Internet to be shown! The brand and range has been created to give us access to products with any harsh chemicals inside, these don't contain petroleum or mineral oil - which are actually really harmful for the skin.
PURE Papaya makes products from the highest quality ingredients and papaya is the main one. It is one of the most incredible fruits for skin, it restores and renews the skin.
Australian Organic Papaya is also a wonderful natural skin exfoliator that “ scavenges” away dry damaged skin to leave it supple and rejuvenated.
Traditionally it is known as a healer for dry skin and wounds. The whole papaya is used in their products, every single bit from the skin to the seeds because it is all useful!

Cohorted November Box

Cohorted never fail to disappoint, each box is made with the consumer in mind and gives you more than what you pay for - which is £35 ! This month is all about the amazing Anne Semonin! Which is
a premium skincare brand – the total value of the box is around £300. The box contains all you need to prep your skin for the winter.

I had to do a bit of reading about Anne Semonin as I had never heard of it, but now I think I am going to be mentioning it a lot more.As a brand, they have been developing luxurious, highly effective skincare since the 1900's.  It doesn't what you age or skin type is, these power products restore that glow which we all want.

Dermalogica Breakdown

Every once in a while I come across a skincare brand that transforms my skin. Dermalogica have been doing their round on here, on other blogs and all over instagram. They are a brand that believes the best way to look after your skin, is to be gentle and kind with it. I have a selection of products that I have loved, used and put some away because they haven't worked as well. I have very kindly been sent these products, but my opinion is honest and I only say the truth - as always.
