The Girl’s Guide To Packing For A Weekend Away

Going away is just so exciting - seeing new places is one of the best life experiences. Well, at least, I think so, anyway. While I love going away, be it to somewhere abroad or to a place in the UK, the one thing I always used to struggle with was packing. Like most fashion lovers, whenever I go anywhere I have a tendency to over pack. (I hate to leave anything at home in case I decide that I need it.)

L'Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist Review

L'Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist

As soon as I saw this on L'Oreal's instagram I just had to go out and hunt it down, it must have all been planned because it was the last one in my local Superdrug! Keeping my makeup on all day is a challenge and I can't seem to find a primer that my skin likes so maybe a mist will work better.

Pu-erh Tea Review

Pu-erh Tea

I drink a lot of tea, in fact I drink a lot of hot drinks in general. My kitchen cupboard at university is full of different boxes and sachets. The newest one to my collection has been the Pu-erh Tea from Slimming Solutions*.

This is a traditional tea that is known for increasing your metabolism and helping you to loose weight. When things say 'weight lost' I get a bit skeptical I have to say. Only because of what I might feel afterwards - to my surprise I didn't feel anything! I haven't had any side affects with this tea. Its recommend to drink two to three cups a day/after meals which I started doing for the first week then as life got in the way its gone down to a cup in the morning. After the cup I have so much more energy and it helps me get through a long day! Taste? Well, I am a big green tea lover so this tastes fine to me, to others it may taste a bit bitter and if so had some sweetener (not sugar, it defies the object!)

Does it help loose weight?
I am yet to stand on some scales and see if the number has gone down, but as far as how I feel - lighter, happier and healthier. The Pu-erh Tea is making me feel better because of it cleaning my system and getting rid of the 'nasty stuff'.

Overall, I have been loving this tea on a morning after I've had my cereal. It really makes me feel good and most of all it is doing something to my body. I have only been drinking it for two weeks, so it might not have its full effect on me but it does work!

Makeup Tips For Winter Weddings Every Girl Should Know

Ladies, let's be honest about it, we all love a good wedding. I mean what’s not to love, there’s champagne on tap, lots of yummy food, and plenty of eye candy in the form of groomsmen - weddings really are a lot of fun.

While most couples opt to tie the knot in the warmer months, some couples go for a winter wedding. Winter weddings can be beautiful, especially if it’s snowing out - the ultimate fairytale. Of course, the only problem is that when it comes to wedding makeup, we’re used to creating that dewy, sun-kissed look. And as any makeup artist will tell you, for a winter wedding, this isn’t the way to go.

wedding makeup.jpg

For the colder months, we want our skin to look beautifully shimmery and shiny. After all, the winter is all about the glitz and glamour, right girls? Achieving the perfect makeup for a winter wedding doesn’t have to be difficult, all you need to do is take note of these tips:

Combat dry skin

While the major benefit of attending a wedding during the winter months is the fact that you don’t have to stress about your face melting off. Thanks to the freezing weather and the fact that most of us like to keep our heating on constant throughout the winter, our skin is prone to drying out.

The worst thing about this is that it can show up when you apply your makeup as nasty, flaky patches. To prevent this, you need to ensure that your face is as well hydrated as possible. The night before, exfoliate your face to remove any dead or dry skin cells and then prime it with a rich moisturiser. For this, something containing shea butter would be ideal as it’s super hydrating. Then, in the morning, apply a lighter face cream, and follow with a moisturising primer.

In your bag, pop a bottle of moisturising mist - L’Occitane’s Perfecting Mist is ideal, and spritz your face throughout the day. For best results, opt for a mist that also sets your makeup in place, as well as moisturising. That way, you don't have to stress about the spray messing up your makeup.

Take the weddings theme into account

It’s important that just like when attending a summer wedding when it comes to your makeup that you take the theme of the wedding into account. Trust me, the bride will love you for doing this.

To find out what the theme of the wedding is, scour the invitation. Is it a vintage inspired do or have they sent out modern wedding invitations? Taking note of the theme is important when it comes to your makeup, so make sure to double check it before perfecting your look.

Work with winter light

The chances are that the wedding photos will be taken outside, and because of this, you need to work with winter light when it comes to your makeup. You may not realise it, but winter light has a bluish tint to it. This means that when it hits your skin, it makes dark circles and eye bags more visible, as well as blemishes.

To ensure that your complexion looks perfect, opt for a foundation and concealer that reflect light. This will bounce the light off of your skin, and prevent flaws from showing up in the photographs. For blushes and highlighter, avoid warm tones, stick to neutral shades.

Don’t forget to add some sparkle

In the summer months, shimmery makeup is a big no-no as it can make your skin look sweaty. However, during the cooler winter months, adding a little sparkle to your look can give your skin a beautiful frosted look.

That being said, don’t go crazy with the glitter, choose one area to place it one, such as your eyes or cheeks. How about investing in a shimmery highlighter? That way you can add a little glitter to your skin, but it won’t look too much. Benefit’s Watt's Up highlighter is ideal for this.

Get your eye makeup right

eyes 1.jpg

To ensure that your eye makeup stays in place all day, make sure to apply primer before you start your eyes. For your eyes, adding a little shimmer is a must. It’s important to pick a look that’s beautifully elegant but not too over the top.

For beautiful winter eyes, white-toned and rose-hued shadow is ideal. The prettiest looks tend to be neutral and pretty, not too bright or bold - there are perfect for weddings.

So there you have it, everything that you need to know about achieving beautiful winter wedding makeup.

Clothes Show Live 2015

Welcome to my Annual Clothes Show Post! This year has to be the most amazing year yet, not only because I took along my bestie Aamira but also because the whole thing had a revamp! They had better brands this year including Nanshy, NYX and Cloud Nine as well as decorating the NEC with prettier displays and brighter lights! This time round I was very lucky again to be accepted for a Press Pass/Blogger 2015 and it was amazing. We went into the blogger bar, were spoilt with an amazing goodie bag that I am going to talk through in a moment and we got the chance to meet Jamie Lang from MIC! He was the cutest person ever, having a chat with him and getting to know him was the highlight of my day. I had so much fun and it was all because of you guys, thank you for reading my blog - erm we hit 1000 followers!

The Bloggers Goodie Bag

I am not trying to brag or showoff about this goodie bag, it has become part of my haul and I want to show you all the amazing things. As you can see it was full of all things pretty, girly and amazing. There were KISS nails in there, Lavish Phone Case, KISS Lashes, Leather Protector, A Olympus PEN leather strap which is making me want to buy their camera it is stunning. There was also a selfie stick in their from the sponsors of the fashion show Alcatel, a makeup brush and some little bits like nail file and mirror. The biggest gifts in their have to be the Paul's Boutique purse and  a Maniere De Voir coin purse which has been put straight into my handbag its so pretty.

Haul

This year was a little different for me as I didn't buy the brands I typically go for such as Models Own because I am still trying to use their things from the year and year before! The first stall that caught me was called 'Celebrity Scents' and they stocked perfumes from the celebs, the company was SAS Perfumes in charge of the branded ones. I picked up Little Mix Gold Magic and Cheryl Stormflower Noir for £10 each and Aamira got Ri Ri for the same price - couldn't believe my eyes. Then I headed to the KISS Nails store, not realising that they were in the goody bag but the nonetheless, stick on nails are the best thing to do! GOSH were also there where I managed to pick up a Nude lip liner and rose gold eye shadow stick. NYX were also there this year and oh my gosh it was wonderful! There was such a que for a long time but we caved in the end and waited and I am so glad we did. I managed to see what the hype about the brand was and felt quite overwhelmed at first until I picked up two bits - Shine Killer and Butter Gloss, which I will report back soon. Then the biggest purchase of all was from Cloud Nine Hair. I picked up their curlers after the lovely lady curled my hair and convinced me that my hair will curl and it lasted 3 days! I am now slightly in LOVE with curly hair one me - let me know your thoughts?

Woo, that was a long post wasn't it! I hope you enjoyed coming around with me, it was such a fun day and I can't wait till next year! If you ever get the chance to go then I highly recommend it! Enjoy x
